Programs and Policies

OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Administration) is all about ensuring safe and healthy working conditions for employees. They’ve got quite a few regulations, and yes, some of them do require written programs. These programs serve as roadmaps to keep everyone on the right track when it comes to safety.

Now, let’s break it down a bit:

  1. Written Programs: These are like the instruction manuals for safety. They outline specific procedures, responsibilities, and protocols. When OSHA says you need a written program, they mean you should have a documented plan in place. Examples include:

    • Hazard Communication Program: This one covers how you handle hazardous chemicals, communicate risks, and train employees.

    • Lockout/Tagout Program: For managing energy sources during maintenance or repairs.

    • Respiratory Protection Program: If your employees need to wear respirators.

    • Emergency Action Plan: What to do when things go haywire (fires, natural disasters, etc.).

  2. Best Practices: Beyond what’s strictly required, there are smart practices that can enhance safety. These might not be mandated by OSHA, but they’re still a good idea. Think of them as going above and beyond. Some examples:

    • Ergonomics Program: Focusing on preventing musculoskeletal injuries.

    • Wellness Programs: Promoting health and well-being among employees.

    • Safety Committees: Bringing people together to brainstorm safety improvements.

    • Contractor and Vendor Management Program: Ensuring that all contractors and vendors that conduct work at your site are doing so within the OSHA regulations and adhering to your sites safety rules.

Training

For each program created or updated, employees need to be trained to understand the program and what their roll is. We will create a custom training to go with each program and conduct the training with employees who are affected by the program.

Document Retention

Each client will be given access to our Client Portal where they are able to log in and view all of the documents completed for their company. From the portal you can download or print any one of your programs at anytime.

Program or Policy Creation

When creating or updating a program, WenCo Safety Solutions will evaluate your site, work content, hazards, and create a program that is designed for you and meets the OSHA regulations.
